About Our Family-Owned Business
Shore-Built Construction, located in York in the Down East state of Maine, have been building exceptional quality residential and commercial properties for over 34 years.
ROBERT LECLAIR, President
As a young boy, Bob’s dad instilled in him a very strong work ethic. He also prepared him for the big world by teaching him as many skills as he could – whether it was boxing or auto mechanics and everything in between.
At the age of fifteen Bob was introduced to construction by an architect family friend and apprenticed with him for several years. Bob had found his passion! Construction allowed him to use both his analytical and creative skills, all while helping to build lasting memories for his clients. Since that time Bob has built hundreds of residential and commercial properties.
You'll see Bob on a daily basis swinging a hammer alongside our contractors and subs. He refuses to manage from afar because it's important to give each client the best we have to offer - thirty-four years "building" experience, not "supervising" experience.
Just as his father taught him, our craftsmen gain their expertise alongside Bob day in and out. We're so proud that many of these skilled workers have gone on to own their own businesses and, like Bob, have found a passion which now helps to support their families.
Although construction licensing is not required in New Hampshire or Maine, Bob holds an Unrestricted Construction Supervisor’s License in the state of Massachusetts - the top designation in this field. He has also been certified by the EPA as a Certified Renovator.
Whether you have a vision for finally having that chef's kitchen, or that seaside home that will greet generations to come, let Bob’s vast knowledge help bring your vision to life!
SUSANA LECLAIR, Office Manager
With the exception of the actual building construction, Sue – Bob’s wife- has handled every other aspect of the company (from payroll to marketing) for the past eighteen years. Born to a family of eight siblings, Sue learned early in life to be patient and level-headed in the face of organized chaos. As a mother of two teens, she’s also an efficient multi-tasker.
Although her business education prepared her to run a professional office, it’s her experience as a wife and mother which has best prepared her to hold a client’s hand through the emotional journey of building- which may involve a new job, new school or a re-location.
Her strong organizational and communication skills are imperative in always keeping our clients “in the loop” which helps reduce a client’s anxiety, questions or concerns.
Allow Sue to walk you through your upcoming building project - enjoying every moment!
COMMUNITY
We’re extremely thrilled about our new showroom, located in the same building as our office and workshop. It provides a background to not only allow us to exhibit our skills in building and cabinetry, but it was imperative for us to be able to also help out our community. Learn more about our wonderfully talented, local artists who are bringing you a gorgeous line of pottery and tiles. Look for future info on the many worthy causes we are, and will be, supporting.
